Return & Refund Policy
Last Updated: September 2026
At Asian Art Research Foundation (“AARF”), we understand that acquiring an artwork is an important decision. We encourage buyers to carefully review all available information, images, dimensions, condition details, provenance information and other relevant documentation before completing a purchase.
1. Return Enquiries
If you have concerns regarding an artwork purchased through AARF, you should contact us within 15 days from the date of purchase.
Your request should include:
- Order or purchase reference
- Name of the purchaser
- Details of the artwork
- Reason for the request
- Relevant photographs or supporting information, where applicable
All requests will be reviewed individually.
2. Condition of Returned Artwork
Any artwork approved for return must be returned in the same condition in which it was delivered.
The artwork must not have been:
- Damaged
- Altered
- Restored
- Framed or modified without approval
- Subjected to improper handling or storage
AARF reserves the right to inspect the artwork before approving a refund.
3. Return Approval
A return should not be sent without prior written approval from AARF.
Return eligibility may depend on the nature of the artwork, transaction, reason for return, condition of the artwork and any specific terms agreed at the time of purchase.
4. Non-Returnable Items
Certain artworks or transactions may be designated as final sale or otherwise subject to specific purchase terms. Where applicable, this will be communicated before or at the time of purchase.
Custom commissions, specially sourced artworks, services and other personalised arrangements may also be subject to separate terms.
5. Authenticity Concerns
AARF takes authenticity and provenance seriously.
If a buyer has a genuine concern regarding the authenticity or originality of an artwork, they should contact AARF within 15 days from the date of purchase and provide relevant details or supporting information.
AARF will review the concern based on the documentation, research and information available in relation to the artwork.
6. Refunds
Where a refund is approved, the refund process and applicable amount will be communicated to the purchaser in writing.
Shipping, insurance, handling, customs duties, taxes or other third-party charges may be subject to separate treatment depending on the circumstances of the transaction and applicable law.
Approved refunds will generally be processed using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
7. Return Shipping
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, return shipping arrangements must be approved by AARF in advance.
For valuable artworks, appropriate packaging, handling, tracking and insurance may be required.
AARF may provide specific instructions regarding the collection or return of an artwork.
